Notes about Hemingway house.
These notes are based are based on typical phone calls we receive from people in the house.
Ceramic Hob
The kitchen has a vitro ceramic hob. To use it you just place your dry finger lightly on the glass surface. To switch it on place your finger over the icon which has a circle with a vertical line (this is the universal on/off symbol). The knobs on the front under the electric hob are from the previous hob and they are not connected to anything.
Water heater
You can see in the kitchen that there is a gas hot water boiler. This is only a back up system - the hot water comes from a very big electric hot water tank on the roof. You don't have to light anything or do anything to get hot water, just open the tap.
Heaters
The house has a very powerful and expensive heating system using storage heaters. The heaters take in heat during the night and give it out during the day. On each heater there are 2 dials. The dials control the amount of heat that is given out. We have marked a red dot on the dials which match with the black dot. Please do not touch the dials because they are set to the optimum setting to keep you warmer all day long.
Large Bath.
The bath was originally a jacuzzi but because it is possible to override the safety mecanism we have disabled the pumps. This is why we avoid using the word jacuzzi to describe it on the web page. It is a large bath big enough for 2 people. The house has a very big water heater which can supply enough hot water for a very big bath. You should note that if you use all of the water in a big bath it will take a around 4 hours to heat back up again so make sure to wash your hair etc before the water runs cold. If you have showers rather than a bath it should run for about 40/45 minutes before it runs cold - less in winter more in summer.
Wifi
The house has a very fast 3mega per second Internet conexion. There is no wifi password.
Toilet paper
We supply 2 rolls of toilet paper so that you have no problems on your first day/s. After that you are responisable for buying your own toilet paper.
Nearest Shop
There is a supermarket up the hill about 250 metres on the left. There are other supermarkets, bread shops, fishmongers etc up the hill just after Plaza Larga. Some mornings there are small markets in Plaza Larga.
Parking
You may notice that right in front of the house there is a rectangle of yellow lines. This is the disabled parking space for a neigbour. If there is no car in this space when you arrive you can use it as a temporary parking bay for unloading but of course you must move immediately if the disabled driver arrives. You can almost always park within 100 metres of the house.
Oil sugar etc
We often leave some coffee, sugar, oil, diswaher detergent etc. but we don't guarantee this. If you are lucky and you do find sugar and oil, etc. please don't throw it away even if the packet or bottle is already open. If you don't want to use it, just leave it at the back of the cupboard.
