El Camborio |

Whether
you are in Granada for a few days or few months you will almost undoubtedly
have the urge to let your hair down and go dancing to the early hours
at some point. If you are with a group of friends and you are having
a good time and you someone asks; "what shall we do now ?"
or more probably "¿qué vamos a hacer ahora? Well,
you can't go far wrong by going to the Camborio Discotheque in the Sacromonte...
There is something for all of you, whether it be dancing on one of the
dancefloors, sitting on the terrace admiring the magnificent panorama,
propping up the bar meeting new people or maybe even smooching in one
of the snugs.

There
are many different places to hang out at the Camborio. At the top there
is a bar and a dancefloor situated in the centre of a large garden which
has tables and chairs on different levels. From any point of the garden
you have a perfect view of the Alhambra. I am fairly sure that you could
count the discotheques that have a better view using the fingers of
only one hand, not only in Spain but in the entire world!

The
discotheque is situated in Sacromonte which is famous for its caves.
The Camborio is no exception and the lower area of the disco is a labyrinth
of caves which include a dancefloor, a bar and some very small rooms
cut into the side of the caves which offer a quieter, more intimate
atmosphere. The entrance is a typical Andalusian patio. They also serve
sandwiches and snacks.

The
Camborio doesn't open until 11pm and it doesn't start to get going until
after 12. It normally closes at the time when most of us are normally
having breakfast. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Sacromonte
from Plaza Nueva but most people get a taxi or hop on the Sacromonte
bus which continues until 2am at the weekends. There is an entrance
fee which is normally 600 pesetas or 4 euros and it entitles you to
a free drink at the bar.
There are special discounts available for groups and many organisations
such as Spanish schools use the Camborio for their end of course parties.
